Wait, what's this? Another post about flat shoes? Have I entirely abandoned my lifelong dedication to high heels? So many questions.

No, I have not completely abandoned high heels, as that's almost against my religion, but I'm not limiting myself to always wearing a heel nowadays. I'm trying really hard to see the beauty in flat shoes too. Sure, they don't have the delicious elongating qualities of a well turned out high heel, but they do benefit from looking wonderful when they come in prints, patterns and colours.

I'd never see myself in a simple, plain black brogue, preferring adornments like studs or in bright, bold colours and prints. When looking for some unique Oxfords I merrily happened upon PleaseMachine on Etsy.

PleaseMachine is based in Budapest and is designed by Anna Zaboeva. Whilst not all her designs are quite my cup of tea her Oxfords are, however, rather spectacular.

I ordered these blue beauties a few weeks ago and am very excited about their arrival - €123.00

step into spring...

Step into Spring my arse!

Yesterday was the Spring equinox, yet here in The Kingdom snow has still been falling.

Even this very morning, although sun was shining in the sky, I've still got my snowboots on. Snuggly and cozy they may be but I am getting sick of the very sight of them.

I want to get my toes out, let my poor feet feel some fresh air.

After being cooped up so long, I would realy like to treat them to an outing in something really special. Of course being the contrary Queen that I am, I want to treat them with the very things I can't get my hands on.

Namely the footwear from the Acne Fall Winter 2013/14 collection.

These are not so much shoes and sandals as confectionery for your feet!

Like little tulle cupcake cases for your toes, these are beyond adorable.

I care not a jot that they may be impossible to walk in or barely practical.

As with so many things, when it comes to footwear, Queen Michelle and I are polar opposites. I am happy to pay for a shoe that is barely there whereas she wants a serious badass chunk of it before she will relax her Royal pursestrings...

 

 

The collection iteself received mixed reviews but safe to to say I was quite smitten with it. It felt in places like  early Dries van Noten and that can only be a good thing in my book...

Back To Back

It's not that often that a designers' diffusion line is every bit as desireable as their mainline collection, yet that is exactly the case with BACK by Ann Sofie Back. With each season of it's existence BACK just seems to get better and better, with the lines between this and Atelje becoming ever fuzzier, such is the impressive quality of the BACK silhouette.

What is also interesting is that she has not been tempted to simply aim the cheaper line at a younger customer, as many designers with diffusion ranges tend to do, but rather just omit the more luxurious fabrics and complex cuts used in Atelje and retain the aesthetic value of the Ann Sofie Back offering as a whole.

The latest BACK collection has a decidely laid-back streetwear vibe to it with slouchy shapes emblazoned with the rather prophetic statement 'BACK FOR GOOD', narrow knee length skirts and oversized cargo trousers. I'm reminded of old Vision Streetwear. The holographic trousers and top are, quite simply, amazing.

Aside from the holographic pieces, I find the whole collection massively inspiring and so plan on having a look for the collection when I'm in London. I only own one piece of Ann Sofie Back from years and years ago so would really love to re-introduce the label into my wardrobe.
