In Holland such empty spaces are rented out to artists for very reasonable price, until the deconstruction, in order to prevent squatting and vandalism. It's called anti-kraak and one of the rare good things invented by Dutch.

Imagine the possibilities that space like this could offer to Glasgow artists, if you can, if it doesn't make you even more sad.

Oh so sorry, such a sad memory especially with your family all have worked there. It dismays me so when they do things like this, but at least in this case they still kept it in Scotland and not farmed out to the East leaving even more locals jobless. XXX
