I would imagine that it is his immaculate good timing, rather than mere coincedence, that sees our chum Jonathan from Les Garcons , launch his new book - 100 Beards, 100 Days, slap bang in the middle of Movember.
‘100 Beards - 100 Days’ is Jonathan’s latest project, which documents the re-emergence of the beard as the ultimate accessory for the modern gentleman. Every day, for 100 days, Jonathan photographed a new beard on the streets of London. Without prejudice or preconceptions, the aim was to record all guises of tonsorial craft, from unkempt and bushy to trendy and trimmed. The book covers all cultures and creeds, through the men who have re-established the art of the beard.
The book, which is available in a striclty limited edition run of 250 (each copy is signed by Jonathan himself) was launched last night with an exhibition at Ruffians Barbers in Edinburgh.
When we asked him, why choose beards to shoot and Ruffians for the launch, Jonathan said "I've seen so many new barbershops open across the country, one of the reasons why I wanted to document the emerging trend of the beard. I discovered Ruffians earlier in the year and was instantly taken with the space and service. The store design is impeccable and every time I visit, I leave with a smile on my face. It's important for me to work with people who I trust and admire, so I'm especially excited that Ruffians is the venue of my official Scotland launch for the 100 beards, 100 days book!"
The book costs £20 and is available here
I can't say that I'm a big fan of beardy men, unlike our Frances who even has a board dedicated to them on her pinterest.
That being said, you couldn't not love Ray Lamontagne or darling Dave Grohl.
You just couldn't....
