Sometimes the fashion images, that captivate us most, are those which are totally removed from our own every day life.
The garments that make our hearts skip a beat ,we could rarely wear in our real life.
Now with Christmas starting to appear on the distant horizon, my mind of course has started to turn to sequins, ballgown skirts and lashings of tulle. Never the most practical things to wear in the driving Scottish wind and rain
I am a million miles away from the sleek soigne woman who could wear these gowns in her elegant controlled life. I'm too messy, impulsive and grubby to carry off such a polished look.
But somewhere deep in my heart there is a little corner of longing to look like that, even if it just was for one perfect evening.
Of course no one does it better than Chado Ralph Rucci
For spring/summer 2013, sleek whites were juxtaposed against hot pinks, oranges, and yellows. Billowing structural silhouettes were his canvas for the bold hues and rich textures, while the models wore their hair in slicked back rolled-under buns while dark liner with a touch of red encircled their eyes.
Well known for his meticulous detail and construction, I always thought his clothes and prints had a painterly quality . So I was not surprised to find out that he is actually an accomplished artist too!
Now come on, who wouldn't enjoy wearing this first outfit above.
Small wonder really, that he is the only American designer who has ever invited to show Haute Couture on the Paris runways...
