I think October is too late to qualify for an Indian Summer.
But oh my goodness, the weather over the last few days has been beyond glorious.
Clear blue skies, with crisp air and sunshine streaming through the autumn leaves.
But most importantly of all, there has been no wind.
This means that the leaves are just dropping gently to the ground, around the base of the tree, from which they fell, to create beautiful golden leaf puddles.
I don't actually have the words to describe how lovely everything looks, so instead let me show you...
I wouldn't be surprsied to learn that JRR Tolkein had been for a walk in my little park
“I sang of leaves, of leaves of gold, and leaves of gold there grew:
Of wind I sang, a wind there came and in the branches blew.
Beyond the Sun, beyond the Moon, the foam was on the Sea,
And by the strand of Ilmarin there grew a Golden Tree."
At the risk of sounding immodest, these photographs are some of the prettiest, I think I have taken in many a long day.
Hopefully the weather will hold for the weekend. If it does, I may even attempt,(shock, horror, gasp) to do an outfit post!!!!
