I am thrilled that my next crystal ring is being made by jewellery designer, Dorothy Cheng, who comes highly recommended by Queen Marie. I decided I needed an amethyst ring to compliment my quartz crystal.
But whilst I await the completion of the commission, I am still looking around for perfect crystals to adorn my other fingers.
I came across the rather wonderful Elemental Alchemist on Etsy quite recently, a designer hailing from Vancouver. The designer, Sunyata, choses the most exquisite crystals and gems stones for her creations, and houses them in mixed metals.
The effect is utterly striking. Cystals and minerals I've never even heard of, sit proudly atop battered and aged looking metal, often carved with little symbols and details. It's all rather impressive for a designer who is primarily self taught.
I am drawn to the fact she keep the stones beautifully raw, simple and without interference from overly fanciful bezels or bands.
Best of all though, her designs are all very reasonably priced, with some only costing around the £60 mark. Clearly with customs and so on, it would amount to slightly more. And even though the metal isn't precious, the designs look well made and like they'd would last a long time. My only concern is the metal turning my fingers green, which seems to happen with anything that isn't silver or gold on me. But I may have to risk it for one of these beauties.
