I was sent an email by a shop/designer called Label, designed by Shawna Robinson and Natalie Sydoruk, offering to send me one of their dresses. The dress in question was a wrap dress and my initial instinct was to run a mile, since wrap dresses could not be further from my own style. However, when she followed it up with the word "mesh" my ears perked up a little.
There is always room for more mesh. Always. And, since I like to play around with garments and their intended usage or style of wear, this would provide me a little challenge - to fit a perfectly pretty dress into my non-pretty wardrobe.
With that decision made the dress was sent to me....and I have barely had it off my back since! Colour me shocked! How did an unlikely item like a wrap dress quickly shoot up to becoming one of my favourite things? Mostly by not wearing it as a dress but simply as a cover-up/cardigan.
At the weekend it went over All Saints jeans and a Horace t-shirt for just slouching around and going to the supermarket.
I tried it with another outfit and a 5 minute play give me three other ways to wear it and none of them neatly wrapped.
Wearing it with American Apparel sheer navy dress; VPL top; Tabio tights; lace tights shorts; Jeffrey Campbell boots; Vice & Vanity necklace
Mostly though I love wearing it with simple jeans and t-shirt - it effectively adds a little something to an otherwise exceptionally dull outfit. Result!
