Jessica Harris is one of few designers out there that make me want to utterly revel in femininity; to not want to harden up her ultra girly designs and just abandon myself to my female whims. When I look at her work I usually end up feeling like I myself dress too harshly at times and need to soften up as I imagine myself wafting through meadows under a sunlit sky...then I remember I live in Glasgow where there is only rain and there are no meadows! Suddenly my clumpy heels and leather are actually very apt indeed.
Still it's nice to take a walk into an imaginery world every once in a while and Jessica Harris created the perfect little escape.
When she sent me her loobook for her SS10 collection, Crystalline, it's everything Harris excels at; gentle ruffles, adorable little shorts and bodysuits, soft shades and an air of whimsical fancy. The explaination of her collection is equally fantasy enducing.
It is splashes of light reflected in glittering black water.
Light braiding into the atmosphere through prism corners.
Texture sliding under fingertips and water.
Drip and splash. Gemstone’s cool sparkle.
Laping dark blue waves against inky sky.
Star gazing constellations.
Mysterious, uncertain, whisper breath futures and the endless night.
There is also a beautiful film to accompany it created by the talented and equally beautiful Verena from Coco Career.
