All the letters left behind...

When I said earlier that the only letters I needed were 'A' and 'Z', those clever little monkeys at the little factory  must have swooped in and scooped up the rest of the alphabet and used them to make these genius scarves...

Made with microfibre suede and costing $58 they come in UPPERCASE, lowercase and numbers!

They are all so completely wonderful, I couldn't choose,* I long for them all...

Sod it!  I don't need those 24 other letters.

I only need the A and the Z to tell you about - Amazing Zanzan!

Zanzan  is a stunning new range of limited edition sunglasses designed by Gareth Townshend and Megan Trimble, who took their inspiration from 1960s London, when Maltese gangsters walked with a swagger, looked sharp and turned heads. The G men had a name for the exhilarating feeling of wearing something stylish for the first time - they called it Zanzan. 

 

The Spring/Summer 2009 collection, available from farfetch.com  introduces four new designs - Rubirosa, Black Rio, Zazou and Le Sept. Each is limited to 100 pairs in total and is available in a choice of colour combinations.

 Handmade using a combination of the most advanced production techniques available and traditional methods dating back over sixty years they are built to last by people who take pride in their work.

 But as you can imagine, serious style costs serious money. £220 worth of serious money! but that hasn't stopped me falling seriously in love with the Black Rio ones. It also hasn't stopped me by rationalising the cost in the following way -

I wear glasses every single day! So if I was to work out the cost per wear on that basis, they would only cost a paltry 58p a day! Am I worth 58p per day? Hell Yeah!  I'm a Queen don't you know...

The prettiest usb you ever did see...

This is the Swarovski Moon Chrome Pendant. A fully faceted chrome crystal which hides a secret. Swarovski have placed 2GB of memory inside the crystal, hidden by a stainless steel backing with a glossy black finish. Friday Sounds: Killed By Motorhead

I am considering dragging my Prince to see Motorhead in November when they come to Glasgow.

I listened to Motorhead when I was veeeeery young and I am not in least bit aware of anything they did past Ace of Spades.

My first experience of them was around 1979/80 when my next door neighbour brought me a copy of 'Overkill' and Pink Floyd's 'The Wall'. I think his plan was to musically educate me (get 'em while they're young apparently) and was, quite frankly, shockingly misguided, especially when you come at me brandishing a freakin' Pink Floyd album. Motorhead however I took to. But the Queen Mum drew a line under that right away since letting a kid listen to Lemmy growling out of the ye olde record player wasn't perhaps the best idea.

My Prince was lucky enough to catch them play in the late 70's then again in the early 80's, but I have never gotten to see them. I am slightly reluctant to go and see them because I suspect they are long past their best, but it could be a chance to replace the Motorhead t-shirt I once had. I really thought I was shizz in that t-shirt, especially because there was a very large contigent of a biker gang called the Blue Angels where I lived, and I every time I walked past I was sure they thought I was the coolest kid on the street. When in actual fact they probably thought, "stupid little shit with her Motorhead t-shirt".

This is a fantastically cheesy video for Killed By Death from 1984. Check the style of the girls in the video - leggings with cropped tops. That's how we did it in '84...shamefully.

Cecilia Mary Robson, a London College of Fashion graduate, has worked with Jens Laugesen and Jean-Pierre Braganza, and clearly learned the art of panelling and complicated construction from both these mentors, both of whom excel at bringing clothes a 3 dimensional element and an array of texture play.

She opened her own studio in 2008 and showed as part of the On|Off schedule in February 2008.

Her aesthetic looks very much like the 60's vision of the future; part Jetsons, part Barbarella, part Star Trek.

Her graduate collection explored circular forms - gotta love the dress that looks like massive christmas bauble!

Shop Drop

Ah, don't you just love when all the lookbooks start to come into your inbox? That sense of anticipation as you scroll through the PDF, soaking up every image, every possibility for a perfect wardrobe addition.

When the AW09/10 lookbook for Amelie Boutique landed in my inbox I was tres excited! With the shops roster of labels getting more impressive each season, I can see my 'buy less, buy better' money going there rather often. Whilst I await the arrival of my Tristan Blair wedges, I am already warming up the credit card for a few select pieces from the look book.

My favourite pieces from the lookbook:

The Finsk wedges are sculptural gorgeousness as are the Camilla Skovgaard knee high boots.

Heimstone stuff always looks enticing, but I really loved this strappy dress.

If those J Dauphin leather panelled leggings don't make their way into my closet then just I might as well just give up now. The perfect way to update the leather leggings trend that shows no sign of disappearing, but is getting rather dull, dare I say. This is fresh approach and I imagine these will truly come to life when they are on. These are a definite purchase.

Now all I need to do is await the arrival of these delicious items which will involve visiting the shop approximately every hour on the hour.

No Slacker

Gemma Slack has been getting quite a bit of love of late. This young lady has really hit the spot with her AW09 collection for me personally. Show me armour and I'll show you undying devotion. Top it with a model in a monk-like bowl cut and we have a recipe for perfection.

Her smoke prints remind me of her hometown, the industrial city of Sheffield. Considered bleak by many this large city gave the UK an impressive steel industry, The Human League, Warp Records and the sadly no defunct Designers Republic (RIP).

I suspect she didn't intentionally channel her birth city, and it's just me who's thinking that, but I always believe good design, like art, leaves the viewer an opportunity to translate and interpet their own meanings. There is no denying the futuristic element inherent in the collection too - the mix of past and present is powerful and well executed.

Obviously loving the chain waistcoat thing there.
