I use the word 'adornments' rather regularly on here. For me it is the best word for something where jewellery isn't quite enough to describe it. Adornments go a little step further than jewellery, sometimes occupying a space which almost tips over into clothing but not quite.
When I received an email from Jenny telling me about her label, Jenny Jenny, describing her work as adornments rather than jewellery, I was quite excited to see the term used and what she felt constituted adornments.
I am very partial to a tassle and Jenny utilises them for earings as well as this stunning lariat.
However it's her eppaulettes that had me hooked. This is a perfect piece of adorment if ever I saw one.
These can be pinned onto anything and would look as amazing worn at the back as the front.
I have pretty much lost count of the amount of people who have asked/told me to check out Litter SF. I am very aware of their beautiful work but simply haven't posted about them because I feel everyone knows about the label anyway, and me writing about them isn't going to make a difference. However, in view of the theme of adorments then Litter SF really must be mentioned as what they do can't possibly be described simply as jewellery - it goes far beyond that.
The shoulder and elbow/arm pieces are delicious. I wear a bracelet above my elbow quite often but these take it to another, even more delightful level.
But it's the chain garters than I'm seriously lusting over. Since I don't have the kind of money they are asking for one I may have to attempt some DIY version, which will no doubt look like a weak, half arsed version, but I need more chain action on my legs. I blame you James for the leg chain fixation!
The beauty of adorments like these is that very often they are amazing worn under the clothes - I possibly wear my A(r)mor body chain more often under my clothes than over them. Obviously that doesn't work for many items, but in the case of A(r)mor is definitely does. Just warm it up before you put it on!!!
