I had my Topshop thigh boots delivered to my Prince's work yesterday, and when he brought them home last night I was tres excited.
I had been out all day yesterday so perhaps my feet were a wee bit swollen but when I attempted to put the boots on it just wasn't happening. I couldn't get my heel over the ankle area of the boot as there is no zip. So I wrestled on the floor with them, at one point trying to cantilever myself into them with use of a wooden spoon (don't ask). After 20 minutes of solid wrestling I had one boot half on and half off and a remarkably red face from sheer exertion. I now couldn't get the half of foot I had in the boot, out of the boot! I imagined that I was going to have to go to bed with a thigh high boot stuck on my foot.
Eventually between my pushing and my Princes pulling, the boot finally came off. Not one for giving up, I tried the other one on and, after a reasonably small amount of wrestling, managed to get it on. It looked brilliant. I reasoned that my feet probably were swollen and would try again this morning. I did managed to get on the initial pesky one when I got up this morning so perhaps they just need a bit of dedication and they will stretch. There is no denying they look incredible, but am just wondering if they are worth suffering a potential hernia for? I'm sure Puss in Boots never had this trouble with his.
In other news I am rather liking this Topshop jacket utilsing leather discs. Iimagine if I wore it with my leather disc dress I made ages ago? It'd be a wonderful disc overload!
Although I could just be delusional due to the boots cutting off the air supply to my brain and head to toe leather paillettes is, in actual fact, a very bad idea.

:) hilarious! Seeing that jacket in topshop, I had to think of your dress too.

I saw those boots in Topshop today and I'm sure I saw a zip at the bottom on the inside! must be my imagination. I hate it when I find amazing shoes and something like that makes them not worth keeping :(

i work in shoes and they will stretch, i promise!!!
tip....i've seen me puttin plastic bags on peoples feet to get the right slippage to get their feet in, but once u've taken them on and off a couple of times ...the're fine!!

Nice work on that dress!
This jacket I like more than the shiny stuff.
There is a small simple trick to solve your boots problem, but I don't wanna be a smart ass all the time, so let me know if ya wanna know.

That's beautiful. I got stuck in a dress in the Zara changing room yesterday -- it went on, but it wouldn't come off! I was very worried I was going to have to buy it and wear it home so I could cut myself out of it.
Love all the leather disc goodies, but yeah -- maybe just one item at a time.

Man, I couldn't work that hard on putting on any piece of clothing/footwear. Too much!

Love those leggings! only you could pull off head-to-toe leather paillettes!

Nic, good to know. I might persevere and try the plastic bag trick. Gotta be better than a wooden spoon!
Dust, please do share! Any advice to prevent the inevitable hernia is most welcome!
Style Spy, I too have found myself stuck in something from Zara in the changing room before. It's rather frightening especially if you've decided you don't even want the item!

OK.
You need to improvise zipper when you don't have one, right? Usually, beside the zipper, there are other systems of closure, like buckles and laces.
Zipper can be put by the shoemaker, which you are not, buckles are useless, so, you want laces!
Usually small slit is enough 5-10 cm on the spot where zipper should be, you can mark the tightest spot on your boot by putting your leg in it and.... see how far it goes! Start cutting small, put something flat and wooden inside and use a knife and ruler. If it's not big enough make the slit longer.
Then make some holes, put some rivets and shoelaces!
Don't be too afraid of the cutting, just be careful and focused. I get all fizzy when making the first cut, still.
It looks much worse than it is before you put the laces.
I get compliments on my boots if I do this on the other, out side of the ankle! If only they knew!
She who dares, wins!

oh man, sometimes i have to wonder if it's worth all that trouble. but then i ask myself that, and i usually say yes. the disc jacket is so dope- time to save!

You're kidding me, no zip on THIGH HIGHS??? Are they made of stretchy leather? Bizarre!

i've always been fond of your leather disc dress. the jacket is superb. wearing them together would be magic!

Leather pailletes?! Wow, it's amazing :)

I got exactly the same ones (couldn't resist) and had the same problem with getting them on / off. I've found that sitting on the end of the bed and wiggling your ankle side to side until it pops into the shoe is the least painful and annoying method! Getting them off requires a Prince though. I wore mine today (http://www.positivelymelancholy.com ), once they are on - they're incredibly comfy!

I got stuck in a boot like that once while in a shoe store. My mum laughed at me. Very traumatic.

LMAO - I've been crippled by boots/shoes before but did not know they could also cause brain damage!
Hat off to you for the dress - I want one. Say, will you make me one? Oh, go on, you know you want to!
And yes, that jacket's delish...

I think you should throw those boots back and wait for some better ones. They shouldn't be a chore to put on! They were too cheap at TS to design them properly! Fuckers.
I have 2 pairs of thigh high boots (not that I wear them!)that are easy to put on and fit like a glove.
dust IS a genious, though.

you look great! it's a moment of triumph. i remembering wrestling with some boots so hard in a store and then i crashed into a display and feel on the ground. the worse part was that everyone pretended to not notice. it was that bad.

I couldn't stop laughing when I read this entry + all the comments- I got stuck in a pair of boots in Zara- it took me twenty minutes of very unladylike pulling and sweating and cursing sitting on the floor of one of their fiting rooms to remove the damned things... it's nice to know that I'm not the only one that gets into these situations... :)
