When I was sent the images from Je Suis Belle's latest collection early in the week, I had to wonder if I had accidentally been sent someone else's photos.
I wrote about the label previously and looking at designers Dalma Dévényi and Tibi Kiss' work then and looking at this collection now - the designs are worlds apart.
Last season was a much darker aesthetic and this season things have gone much more whimsical and lighthearted. Unless you have been living under a rock of late, you will know that prints are huge this season especially if it's vaguely celestial or tie-dye. The prints on the pieces are bordeline everything, including painterly, with what looks like watercolours which have been flooded with water and photographs that appear ghostly on dresses.
As I said, quite the departure. Whilst there are ruffles aplenty the collection never flips over to twee territory, saved mostly by the light, draped fabric and washed out hues - nothing is candy coloured or too bright. The black piping and general relaxed feel of the collection makes it so easy to imagine these pieces slipping seamlessly into your closet without ever being overwhelming.
The collection is injected with little bursts of black tailoring which smartens everything up slightly whilst still maintaining it's laid back essence.
I would wear one of the dresses with floral tights and some kind of floral headband. I imagine an outfit like that would make me appear like a living polaroid - a bit blurred round the edges and a bit washed out. That's no bad thing.

Good Lord! Quite the change! This aesthetic is far more to my taste, dreamy and spacey. Like it a lot xx

love these, esp the petrol blue crop jacket with cap sleeves and the billowing trousers modeled top right.

I hope that they'll do something great with lookbook and illustrations, as usual.

What a difference!
I love these prints; bold but not overwrought with bright colors. I know you'd work anything in this collection!

I love these! Great colors and really versatile--I especially like the orange tones in that last piece. I'd love to own just one of these.

I like those shoes... Looks like a potential DIY with an old pair of wedges and some colorful duct tape.
