You may have heard of the name David Koma. If you haven't then you will very soon.
This Georgian born designer graduated in 2009 from Central St Martins with an MA in Fashion. He also won the Harrods Design Award, previously scooped by the likes of Christopher Kane, and is set to be stocked in Browns Focus in London. I initially heard of him via his Iqons profile but as yet his website remains unpopulated. But be sure that his beautifully sculpted dresses, which are often embellished with things like metals tubes, are set to grace the bodies of the British fashion elite.
As with any designer who comes out with body conscious silhouettes which have this kind of embellishment, the comparisons to Marios Schwab will be inevitable and no doubt his work will appeal to fans of Schwab's aesthetic, but Koma has an undeniably different sensibility which I think it's a little more forgiving than much of Schwab's work.
I'm not sure which pieces will be stocked at Browns and I suspect there will be some design tweaking involved to make the more statement dresses a little more practical if they choose to stock them (are those metal tubes heavy I wonder?), but I hope they don't ask too much to be changed as I like the undiluted concept he has presented here.
It also makes me want to spend a day in Homebase searching for lightweight tubing to embellish old dresses - much better than boring old bugle beads!

OMG. I'm loving these! I totally agree that these seem more forgiving than Schwab because of the trims and the extras... Especially the fourth and fifth dresses; and the fact that they're done up in black.

Stunning! I really like it when designers incorporate unconventional materials in their designs.

I should probably like it...but, i don't. I don't know...maybe all the black, it's like, explore some nice blues & purples...but yes. Some nice construction, I like the ring detail on the arms...name to keep in mind certainly!
