It seems the whole cull your closet thing has really caught on with lots of bloggers now selling their stuff off their blogs. When I found out that Ricky from Cats & Dogs was selling the Rodarte inspired dress she knitted herself then there was no way I was letting that pass me by. I have mentioned many times that I really appreciate the art of knitting and have never mastered it myself, so it was a good chance to grab a beautiful dress that I knew would be quite well made. It's loose knit is actually ideal for summer as it's perfectly breezy, and even though it's quite obviously Rodarte inspired I don't mind as it fits my closet and style perfectly so it'll last me for a long time.
I have no fear of the red and black combined, after all it works for the wonderful Emily The Strange.
I pretty much kept to the red and black and added some extra cream, but I have also worn it with navy and grey which also works, but ran out of photograph steam to before being able to take more photos with different colours. I'm a bad outfit blogger.
Jean Pierre Braganza top; Tabio tights; DIY necklace; Givenchy shoes
DIY harness; Topshop lace leggings; Marios Schwab shoes
Topshop leggings; Customised jacket; Underground shoes
I especially like the fact it's assymetric which makes it hang really well and gives it lot of swishy potential, which is always appreciated in a dress. Well done Ricky on making such a fabulous piece. Now go do them in other colours - I'd like one in an array of grey and nudes please!

This is absolutely amazing on you. And it goes so very well with your harness. -- I have to admit to a slight tinge of jealousy, I just covet it so much. Let's hope Ricky gets out the knitting needles soon again. :-)

Great stuff!
Dig the outfits.
Just how do take those photos? Tri-pod & self-timer? Evil minion? Your prince?
Posted by: Ms. Smart | Monday, 01 June 2009 at 16:40
Ahhhhhhhh I love anything that contains even the slightest Rodarte reference, so of course I'm massively jealous that you have this dress! It looks great on you. Your bangs look different - slightly Spock inspired perhaps?
Posted by: Hannah | Monday, 01 June 2009 at 16:50
Ms Smart I take them with a self timer and tripod - my prince was lying on the sofa watching the football when I was taking them so no use asking him to help!
Hannah, I had it cut into a very obvious Spock/Dracula 'v' shape, which dipped at the front and followed the shape of my eyebrows, but decided it looked silly on me, so I re-cut it by taking the sides up very high so now it curves instead.

Topshop should take a leaf out of ricky's book, it seems beyond rodarte inspired and has a look of it's own, i really like the hem.
p.s. i can't get typepad feeds on my reader so have to check up on your guys and sb and cq in big chunks when i have free time!
