I have been giving my next shoe purchases much thought indeed. I have settled on two pairs, both quite sensible and will be worn plenty of times rather than languishing in a box under the clothes rail, ultimately ending up being sold for a fraction of the price I paid for them. Hey ho.
The pairs I have selected:
1/ Tristan Blair wedges
Black ankle boot wedges. These are basically the best looking plain ankle boot I have seen for ages. I will get so much wear out of these. Excellent manageable heel height. Love the cuff detail.
2/ Underground UK red winkle picker boot
While all the cool, trendy kids are cooeing over creepers and diggings their Docs, I'm sticking with my old favourite - the winkle picker. Since my last London trip officially killed my white pair, and all my other winkle pickers just aren't..winkle-y enough, I decided it was time to invest in new ones. Meet my new shoe crush.
Sadly neither pair of shoes are going to be in my hands or on my feet til at least May; June for the Tristan Blair wedges. Gives me plenty time to get the dosh together.
On a lenghthy side note, Underground UK are a cruel lot. You go to their site, as I have done many times, you see a plethora of perfect shoes, you add to cart, you pay for shoes (or so you think), you get the email saying "Hey aren't these amazing? Your order is being processed and very soon you'll be the coolest cat on your street with these new shoes".
You then envisage all outfits, ever, with the Perfect Pair Of Winkle Pickers.
Then you get an email a week later from Johnny Comet telling you that your shoes are Out Of Stock and they need to get some from The Factory, and it will take 10 million years, but hey, they won't charge you until they come. In 10 million years.
In one single email they have pulled out your still beating heart with their bony hands and rendered your whole entire wardrobe devoid of any future, since every outfit now needs these shoes. Thanks Johnny Comett! (there's an ironic name if ever there was one)
I of course will wait the 10 million years patiently because these shoes are worth it, and they know I can't jump on the number 10 to Camden to see what they actually do have in stock. You got me Mr Comett! Well played my friend, well played.

I love the first shoe... =)

Ugh, I've had the same thing happen with other online shops. Just about wrecks ya. But when those Winkle Pickers finally arrive, you'll be all the more in love for the looooong wait.

I have ordered from underground (white chelsea boots) and had the same thing happen. I think it is probably they don't stock as many smaller sizes as mens.

ooooh! both great choices!
i have been deliberating the grey in the same winklepicker boots for a while.
i bought creepers from udnergournd a few years ago though and i just emailed them first to see if they were in stock or when they would be so you could always do that.

You could always try http://www.pennangalan.com/ or http://www.fantasyshoe.com/ for winklepickers. I'm pretty sure they have a quicker shipping time too if you want instant shoe gratification...

Sometimes I think I just love EVERY wedge shoe.

I have a pair of black leather winklepicker boots like that which got from a small shop in Camden. The only difference in mine is that the buckles are shaped like skulls, and they were a fraction of the price, but have lasted as long as my Underground chelsea boots. Just in case you're in London again anytime.

The Tristan Blair wedges are going to be my next purchase too. I am afraid with all the online press that they will sell out in stores here in Australia! So I have made the lovely shop girl promise to call me as sooon as they arrive. Apparently Tristan and his partner have just had a baby, which is why the shoes are still in pre-order everywhere. The clothing drops have arrived, though, so shouldn't be too long now...

When my mom said "sensible shoes" i don't think she meant these lovelies. Those pink ones are divine, as are the wedges (heaven!) though i don't think i could pull them off as well as you.

Estelle - how dare he let a baby get between girls and their shoes!!! hehe
Trashforce Reaper - how do you find the sizing of Underground shoes? I have ordered them, but all my other winkle pickers (not from Underground) all seem to vary widely, so wondered if I should size up while I have the chance?

Now I have yet another pair of shoes that I'm lusting over. Gee thanks! Seriously though, those Tristan Blair shoes are fab and I can see you having a great time mixing them up with your clothes! Is that a knit edging at the top? Ooo it could be like a little ankle sock! I never really got into creepers, I've actually got a pair of original Robot creepers up for sale because they need to be loved by someone rather than languishing in my closet for another 20 years! Winkle pickers otoh, I love pointy shoes so those are more my speed! I hope you manage to get them and don't get that wacky email from Johnny Comet (sounds like he should own a burger joint.)
