I hummed and hawed over the wonderous Hartmann Nordenholz's chiffon patchwork dress from their AW 08 season ages ago. It went on sale somewhere online but I never did buy it and now kinda regret it. However their latest collection has sent me into lust overdrive with a plethora of spraypainted stencilled prints, armouresque construction and interestingly structured silhouettes.
The label was founded by Filip Fiska and Agnes Schorer in 2000. Agnes cut her teeth under the expert guidance of Helmut Lang, Marc Bohan and Jean-Charles de Castelbajac, whilst Filip learned from the mastery of Jean-Charles de Castelbajac, Viktor&Rolf and Raf Simons.
You can see the influence, although not to such a degree where it's hard to tell where their mentors end and they begin. They have clearly found their own voice, and in the seven years the label has been going, that voice has become more prominent and clearly defined.
In terms of DIY, I have been thwarted in my latest idea due to lack of the necessary fabric, however I have been getting busy with spaypainting shoes, although with little success. I am however now tempted to transfer my spraying experimenations onto cloth instead and get busy with some stencilling to see what happens.

As a fan of all things drapey, the first two pictures are making me salivate, love the many amazing details of all the pieces! Shame about the FW08 peach dress, sounds gorgeous! Wonder where Hartman Nordenholz is available online, as it'd never make it to where I am...
PS. Thx for your lovely comment! :)

I'd love to see how the spray-painted shoes experiment ended! Although, I have to tell you, I've tried stenciling a t-shirt with graffiti spray paint before, and it doesn't work. The fabric just absorbs all the paint and ends up stiff and not vibrant enough. If you find a way, I'd love to hear it!

They get the ocassional piece on Farfetch.com but that's not where I saw the chiffon dress - It may have been on StyleServer

Iopi, I was spray painting a wooden heel and platform of a pair of shoes. I thought I could go straight to spraying but the Prince told me I had to sand them down then prime them. So I did all that and then sprayed them but they looked hideous. So I am in the process of sanding it all off. But they have been sitting half sanded for weeks now, so I'll probably never finish them!

We did aplenty of spray fabrics at the Academy. I love the fact that I can produce original&unique pieces in my own studio.
For special effects make some pleats or folds, iron them, spray and....!

Dust, what kind of spray do you recommend?

I've just wrote an essay on spray paint but it's suddenly gone...
So, here
http://www.fabricspraypaint.com/Simply_Spray_Fabric_Paint.asp?Category=16&Name=Fabric_Spray_Paint
Or arts&craft shops, skater&graffiti shops, shop at the closest art school...
Some of the designs above (2,3 & 8) are actually first sprayed and then pleated so it creates a sort of ikat pattern. Interesting, I've learned smth today.
Thanx!

Oooh, I'm excited to hear about the DIYs too. I've been planning on trying to DIY the spray paint Margiela cowboy boots, better add this to the roster as well.

Sorry, I was thinking with my nose. The USA sprays can't be ordered any more. The Marabu sprays are really good, too. You can order them in UK

I favour this to previous seasons; they appear to be re-inventing themselves with this line, far more progressive as opposed to that safe (perhaps more mature) demeanour that suffocated previous collections in my opinion. & yea that bag is a bit of a b-e-a-uuuut.
