I posted last week about wanting to do a bit of experimenting with my corset after seeing Richard Nicholl's amazing AW09 collection.
I dug out my Agent Provocateur blush pink corset, vintage 50's girdle, DIY plastic top made from a kids Stormtrooper costume and old silver Topshop jeans to begin my experimentation. This is by no means the end of it, but for half an hours worth of playing around I have certainly been given plenty of ideas to get me started. Although word to the wise - do not attempt to strap oneself into anything tight and corseted after you've just eaten a huge plate of belgian pancakes and maple syrup.
I also tried it with a pale pink jersey dress and grey tights but the photo came out blurred so I will perhaps take that photo again next weekend - it won't be the last you'll see of this particular experiment anyway, especially as it's given me the impetus to get back on the vintage corset hunt, which I left behind years ago because it's actually quite hard to find decent ones.
See what you've done Mr Nicholl?! I hope you're proud of yourself!

That looks awesome. My desire for a proper corset just became a need, fundamental to my survival as a human.

It looks really fun, love the first pic.
But i´m missing the DIY´s. Is it your new job that takes your time and energy ?
I want more, more, more.......

Sadly Jenny the job is taking up so much time, as well as my freelance bits and pieces. I miss DIYing as much as you miss seeing them. I will get back onto them again soon though - I just need inspired by something.

I'm sure Richard would be very impressed - these look beautiful, and with minimal effort! The top look is my fav by far.
(I really don't know where you store those belgian pancakes etc!)

The last look is my favorite. Curious to see where this experiment takes you.

Love the corsetry attempts. I love playing around with styling the limited pieces I have too. The first shot is my absolute fave. Love the entire look, and it's just the perfect amount of space-odyssey-ism :)

What's really cool is the way the shoe straps go over the jeans bottoms. I love that.
This whole look is so great, the colors keep it from being too "dominatrix." Mind you, I love "dominatrix," but sometimes a softer look is nice.

I really love this look. I must confess I am a recent convert to the corset although I love all things vintage. But this DIY brings new life to the old friend, especially with those silver leggings. It makes it look modern and relevant. Once again you've done a marvelous job.
