Brigid Catiis is an LA based clothing label designed by Raissa Gerona. The label designs using entirely recycled and vintage fabrics therefore nice and 'green', which is always an added bonus.
Whenever I write about eco-sound clothing I always talk about the importance of setting aside old ideas of hemp wearing hippies so that we can get down to the job of really looking at the labels producing ecological clothes that are actually fashionable and cool.
It seems such an obvious thing to want, but there are still so many green fashion labels still churning out shapeless frocks in insipid colours.
I freely admit that I don't choose a label based on the fact it is green, I'm not quite there yet, but it does add a little extra gold star if I like the clothes and they do happen to green.
Brigid Catiis has struck a great balance between environmentally conscious and fashion aware.
The latest collection, due to hit stores in August is the real winner for me though; young, laid back, simple basics which you could happily throw on by themselves or load up with other, brighter pieces.
Leather is used for skirts and as small panel details, plain black tuxedo style balzers, flippy skirts, jersey tops and my personal favourite, a white tie dye skirt. All simple pieces but I suspect if you had them you'd wonder how the hell you ever lived without them!
It has also re-ignited my love of the quiff. I used to sport a rather splendid quiff and have been hankering after one again. Sadly though my fringe hides the frown lines between my eyes, so a teddy-girl quiff combined with what looks like a constant scowl is just asking for a fight!
