Elsien Gringuis is a Arnhem based young designer who's work has been making gentle waves since she was the Winner of the 'best avantgarde award' at the createurope fashion academy award in Berlin in 2008, as well as picking up the CAMERA NAZIONALE DELLA MODA ITALIANA AWARD for the 'most creative collection of the year'.
Her ss09 collection is quitely understated with an emphasis on precision tailoring.
The orange plastic coat is an absolute wonder, and reminds me of the structural sensibilities of Balenciaga with the bold colour statement of Marni.
The slight sportwear feel of the collection is what makes this all so appealing as it appears perfectly wearable, but with enough quirks and twists to make sure it has plenty of interest to be worn either alone, or teamed with similarly structured items for an overall architectural dimension.
