I have had the desperate urge for some serious silver sequin action in the form of a jacket for quite some time, but it was the image of this young that really cemented the need in my head.
Of course I'd love the beautiful Les Chiffoniers sequined jacket but at over £500 that baby ain't coming my way any time soon. To appease my silver sequin lust I ordered these leggings from Topshop yesterday morning.
Whilst I had been awaiting their arrival in shiny silver for some time, having already gotten the blue, in my heart it's a jacket I really want.
In our typical sharing one-brain kind of way, it turns out Queen Marie had already purchased a sequin tuxedo jacket for my birthday and had it hidden away! She brought it over last night knowing I was going to start frantically hunting for one. Although it's black, it will serve my purposes absolutely perfectly until a silver one makes it way to me too. You just can't go wrong with black or silver sequins. I tried it on last night and thought "I look like a Vegas club singer. Excellent!".
I only hope my Topshop delivery doesn't end up the same way as my Ile Aiye beanie which I bought from Etsy - in someone elses mucky little paws! I hope, whoever you are, you are allergic to it and your head swells to the size of a football!
Queen Michelle

Wow love that jacket! Is it the Patricia Fields @ M&S one? It could just be me, but it looks just like it!

I'm thinking about getting the black pair from Topshop but am afraid I'll leave a trail of sequins behind... anyway, I hope your silver pair reaches you safely!

I tried on some sequinned leggings from Express and had to conclude they were just a bit too much in silver. In black or blue I would go for it. On the topic of jackets, I just got a Margiela red lame tuxedo jacket from a couple of seasons ago. The fabric is basically black satin with woven red Christmas tinsel, which is wearing off in the distressed areas. My first thought on seeing it was "wow, that looks like what a psychotic circus ringmaster would wear". Now I am figuring out how to style it. I think the key will be to up the psycho factor - anything too normal will just not work.

Ahh sequin leggings! I lust!

oh! what I would do for a pair of those sequin leggings! I remember way back when drooling over them in a topshop lookbook someone posted!
But alas that wonderous store of goodies has not made its way over to my shores yet!

Sequins are fabulous, they totally do it for a "magpie chic" lover like myself!

Definitely a fan of sequins.

How could anyone steal your beanie?! How awful. The karma train is going to hit that person.
The big question is: Do you plan to sequin it up with the leggings and this jacket together? Or is that just too horrible?
Posted by: enc | Wednesday, 18 February 2009 at 15:27
Enc, I know! People are too dishonest. Very kindly the designer of the beanie is sending a replacement to my hotel on Friday, which is amazing of her since it's not her fault.
Re sequins: I will be wearing them seperately I think. I'm not ready for that level of sequin overload just yet!

Wow I love the leggings and the jacket. What a great friend to get you that for your birthday (not that I measure friendship by how gooder birthday presents they buy, of course)

zara had sequinted jackets for fall-winter 08-09, matte, very pretty. this is a link of it's black version, try to imagine a loose jacket sequinted, and ignore the really bad photo available on ebay, truly doesnt do it justice, maybe they re still available on sale..
