Remember I posted about my strange desire for tartan trousers? Well I got a pair. I came across them in whilst using Primark as a short cut (very handy for getting from Queen Street to Argyle Street). Perfectly tartan trousers.
Whilst I wear 'on trend' items, I never buy anything that I will wear just for the during of the trend - I will buy it and wear it for as long as I like it. So most things that find themselves in my wardrobe will be there because they fit with my style. However, with tartan trousers I really did think it would be a phase and not something I would wear for that long, but now I actually have them I can see them be worn for a while (well, for as long something from Primark actually can be worn). I really love them!
They work worn as a colourful layer underneath plain dresses and other simple layers:
They have breathed life into a very difficult vintage drummer girl dress I have. It's very child like and I always felt I looked like an overgrown kid in it, but the tartan brings an interesting edge to the dress:
With simple tshirts and vests the tartan bottom gives the whole look a punk twist:
And of course I couldn't not do a whole Balmain inspired look. It would be rude not to!
I only hope I look less Russ Abbott and more Johnny Rotten!
Queen Michelle

They look great!
I especially favour the drummer girl dress with it, how much for the trews?

I can't believe I'm saying this about tartan trousers - but those just look incredibly gorgeous on you - the intense red is just magic.

All Johnny Rotten, but girl style. You have found great and surprising ways to use tartan here, Queen Michelle. I'm really floored. Nicely done.

For some reason I have only just come across this blog and on my doing so have found that you are the first person I have seen wear these tartan trousers with great conviction. I love the outfits that you have paired them with and the choice of shoe. You look great.
