The ever wonderful Coca Career, stockists of Chelsea Rebelle, has received the fabulous new Jessica Harris collection, entitled Galactic Ballet.
When I was little, like most girls, I wanted to be a ballet dancer. Unfortunately growing up in a staunchly working class town meant there wasn't exactly a huge requirement for ballet lessons. Self defense yes, ballet not so much.
Ever since then I've always had a weakness for ballet wrap tops and soft nude shades. Jessica's interpretation of ballet class however seems designed for the one girl in dance class who, rather than worry what she'd eaten that day, heads off after class to smoke cigarettes behind the building. She's there because her parents made her go, and whilst she realises being able to lift her legs over her head will come in handy one day, she has no interest in being the prim little madam all the time.
Her headpieces are absolutely delightful and I am seriously coveting the raffia one.
Jessica Harris was born in the US and now lives and works in Rome. Her designs are clearly infused with the haute couture training she received at Rome's Accademia Koefia di Alta Moda e Costume.
