So completed one half of the shower flower adorned shirt. I learned that not all shower flowers are created equal - the one I had which initially started the idea was really short once it was unravelled, however the ones I bought from the supermarket, 8 of them, were massive when unravelled. This side was done using only one shower flower!
Overall it worked better than even I had hoped. The ruffles are full and bouncy and when the mesh is used out of context it really doesn't bare any resemblance to it's original function.
With my remaining shower flowers I intend on covering a skirt. Ideally would use a silver skirt as I think it would have a lovely iridescent effect when the light hits it. A skirt completely covered in white ruffles would look almost like it was made of feathers.

It looks great! I think the skirt idea is super too.

Loving the skirt idea. It'll be all soft & comfy when you sit down on it.

Brilliant idea! It works really well...I was a little worried that it would be really obvious what they were but its not at all. It looks like a fabulous designer shirt! Well done! :)

You used the sponge-like thing for decorating your blouse? This is so crazy, isn't it? How is the feeling while wearing this blouse? Is it comfortable?
I love it very much and it make me remember great designers like Margiela, who also use a lot of new and perhaps strange material. I think your idea is great and simple.

Charlotte, I did indeed decorate a blouse using a shower sponge. Once it's all unravelled and re-ruffled it feels less like a sponge because it's much looser. It's actually very nice sticking your hand among the ruffles! It's just like having a shirt covered in ruffles of any other material really, perhaps a little bit heavier. More structural though as the ruffles stay pretty rigid.

The skirt idea is amazing.
I just had an epiphany when you said skirt because I envisioned it to be a bit of a bubble/ball and then I imagined a sheer black material encasing it all...it seems as though I've seen this on some runway before, hrmmm!

You always have the best DIY projects!
It definitely inspires me to look at everyday objects differently and fins the hidden potential like you did with the shower flowers.

you're a bloody genius! mad, but a genius nonetheless. looking forward to seeing the finished article.
I actually think just the one side of ruffles would work. maybe not quite as far down as you have there, perhaps take it up a row or two to make it look like some kind of corsage.

Delicate and luxurious like petals of a fragrant flower.

That's very very beautiful! Are you going to do the other side exactly the same, or somewhat asymmetric? I don't know how it would look on the body but I like the idea of the ruffles forming quite a graphic diagonal line across the body.
