More Aussie Love
Shame on me but until I actually began writing this blog I truly hadn't realised the vast quantity of talented Australian designers there are out there. I have written about a fair few on here and have been exposed to lots more via magazine's like the amazing Oyster. And of course some, like Kirrily Johnston, you just stumble upon whilst looking for something else. That's how I found the label. I was hunting for a leather dress and she had one in her Autumn/Winter 07 collection, which is how I discovered this delightful treasure.
The main reason I am so drawn to this label is that each collection always feels youthful and fresh yet sophisticated and grown up. Most of the clothes seem designed for wafting around in on hot days, like today as it happens, without having to sacrifice modesty and style in order to prevent you from ending up a hot, sweaty mess. All plus points in my book.
Naturally I'm drawn to the harem style pants but what I would seriously consider making room for are the striped leggings. I reckon these little monochrome numbers could do terribly well in my wardrobe for elevating some of my more sedate items.

Any handy hints about not sacrificing style and modesty in hot weather. 30+ years on the planet and I still don't feel like I've got the hang of that one yet!

I discovered Kirrily Johnston last week when researching Australian fashion week and found the collections to be relaxed and modern. I was embarrassed by how little I knew about most of these designers. I think those leggings would deffinitely be a great addition to your wardrobe, sourcing a pair may be a problem though.

CM, you can't beat harem pants for wearing in hot weather! They look great with gladiator sandals and loose draped tops in silk, which is nice and cool. That's set to be my hot day uniform anyway.
Sarah, the leggings are available on her site, alas I need a smaller size than is stocked which is why they aren't winging their way to me right now!

I don't know how they ever got right the Youthful-and-Fresh/Sophisticated-and-
grown-up combo, because that's virtually impossible due to mutual exclusiveness in so many cases. But they did, and thanks for showing it here. I love the dresses!

I like the asymmetrical button on the harem trousers crotch, by my she has the stick-iest legs I've seen in a fair while!

I'm an Aussie and I have been wearing her stuff for years. Although the more famous she becomes the more expensive her clothes are becoming. But nontheless it's terribly exciting to see her in the Kingdom!

I have that leather dress in question and it is absolutely fabulous and you can eat a truckload whilst wearing it and still look like a million bucks.
FYI her SS 08/09 show from last month, more fantastic design:
