Cable Knit For Legs
I know it's spring and I know that I am supposed to be gearing up for summer and therefore my brain should be filled with thoughts of summery items, but since I am a contrary Queen and am much happier in temperatures that allow me to wear tights and jeans comfortably, I am still in an autumn frame of mind. No bad thing considering it was bloody freezing in Glasgow today.
I also know my leg wear could verge on the absurd, certainly if left to my own devices and definitely if I was completely oblivious to stares and comments. But I simply cannot help myself. My latest obsession is going to be a bridge too far for some many (look away Queen Marie!) and is a bridge too far for me in terms of cost (£139), but I am seriously loving these cable knit button up tights from Wolford.
Yes, button up tights. Essentially they are 3 lengths/parts which button together. How wonderful! They serve to satisfy both my love of garments with 'bits' and my love of tights! I also think they could be worn as leggings, maybe with ankle boots to hide the fact they have feet.
But, as I mentioned, £139 for a pair of tights is a bit silly. However that doesn't stop me cooeing over them and imaging endless outfits to show off these pretty/ugly creations. They are not yet available, which is a really bad thing as that gives me time to ponder just how much I need these...oh dear.

Normally not a fan of wacky tights... actually no that's a lie, but normally not a fan of leggings, I really adore these.
Would only really wear them full-length though, but Iespecially love the detail of the sides. Holy moly, 139?!??

I saw these a few months back and racked my brain trying to imagine how to DIY them. In the end, I gave up. They are so cute and remind me of a paper doll since they call attention to one's joints.

they had some knitted leggings in h&m this winter quite like this (although without the buttons) and since becoming a recent convert to leggings, i've been regretting not buying them for months! so i'd say nab 'em...

Those look brilliant, although a bit pricey for tights!!! I wouldn't mind rocking those either.

Fantastic and sexy. You need them.

They are awesome! Quite sexy and I imagine versatile too as they look like they could be worn as thigh high socks too.

So sexy!

With normal wear....how long do you expect those puppies to last?

Wow!These are kinda of weird but fascinating! I love them...you would definately pull them off...if you think about it you're getting at least 3 pieces of clothing for the price...socks/shorts/tights! ;) Ok, the price is ridiculous but the are very cool!

you're right. that price is silly. but the tights are not. in fact i wouldn't mind them one bit

Lots of love for the freak tights! Cool!
Manuel - depends on how you define "normal wear". For me, I reckon they'd last as long as any other wool tights I own since I have quite a heavy rotation of legwear!

I think these are awesome, though if you wore them as thigh-highs they'd probably need a garter to hold them up. But still, it'd be great to try..even if 139 quid is too much for hosiery.

these really remind me of those leg supports you get when youve strained a muscle.. a diy maybe?
Posted by: foxtrash | Wednesday, 28 May 2008 at 10:44
awesome. if i had your legs i would buy them! alas, they wouldn't really suit my short and stumpies...

Actually, these look fairly easy to make yourself. Just buy a thick pair of tights, cut into the three pieces, finish the edges and sew on some buttons and button holes as you like them. It would also give you more control over the pattern of skin that you show, and you wouldn't have to spend 139 quid!

I saw those on Walford in Bruges (of all places) last October and they've haunted me ever since. For a while I even contemplated trying to knit something similar, but decided I'd never finish. Of course the irony is if I'd have done that, they'd be ready by now.

Mmmm, maybe my knitting fairy could make me them - calling Buttons & Stars!!!

Dang. I can see about a million ways to wear these.

Oh those are amazing! Absolutely your taste (and mine). They remind me of Joan of Arc for some reason...

Kinda reminds me of Pipi Longstocking
