But without the scary-assed clowns coming at you! The only clowns are playful, un-sinister clowns embroidered onto sheer frilled blouses.
This is Pyrus' new Autumn/Winter 08 collection and it is completely an utterly delightful! The label, designed by husband and wife team Lorraine and Ashwin Johnson, began back in 2005 and have simply gone from strength to strength. For their latest collection they have been inspired by the circus and gypsies from the early 20th Century.
I love the drama of the prints and frills, the florette headbands (Queen Marie would love these) and stuffed doll jewellery, but even more instinctive than that - it simply makes me happy to look at! The colour and styling reminds of those cheery Moschino Cheap & Chic ads, which are filled with optimism and happiness, despite myself not actually really liking the label.
In this collection, Pyrus have successfully captured something quite magical within what I describe as 'adorned basics' - this is to say things you could throw on everyday but have a little extra something that gives them a lift and makes you feel like are wearing something really special without trying too hard.
What a jolly nice way to begin a Friday!
