Sheerly Not
Sheer was all over the SS08 catwalks and I embraced it wholeheartedly - well as much as I could in the freezing cold Scottish weather.
However I have been more than a little reluctant to do sheer tights. I am well and truly emotionally attached to my opaques, and summer does tend to send me into a spiral of panic as to what to wear on my legs without having to expose them. But sheer tights, even coloured ones, just aren't doing it for me. Sheer black tights just remind me too much of my school days and knobbly knees like mine are exaggerated 10-fold by a black sheer covering.
I am however actually liking sheer socks. Nude sheer socks. Old lady territory? Yes indeed and I think that's why I like them. Black sheer is the wayward grand-daughter of nude sheer - the wholesome, bun baking granny. Maybe it's because I am inherently un-sexy, but give me the bun baking option every time. OK, that's not strictly true - I think I prefer them because I am reminded of strict and 'proper' undergarments favoured by the Victorians. Add them to something fun and colourful and suddenly they seem less granny-ish.
Since it's some hideous weather we are getting right now I plan to invest in some opaque white tights and I'll wear my nude socks over the top, creating something akin to traditional foundation garments. Hell, I wear big, old granny pants so why not! (I'm kidding, I don't have granny pants. No, actually I do).

that last line about the pants is too funny. i do remember a while back how you were talking about wearing your big old granny pants at the wrong time.
anyway, you look great in them! (the sheer socks, that is ;)

I actually like my sheer stockings quite a bit, except when they snag. I do wish we had something like Tabio in India too- it's a pain, always having to wear jeans in the cold (currently 2 degrees).
But those nude sheer socks do look seriously good- I love the shoes you picked to go with them. And granny pants? I think everyone wears those :)

I love nude sheers as well! Though I try to buy over the knees or layer them over light grey sheer tights.... as my knees are of the knobbly kind...

I totally dig that knee-hi look on a young girl with perfect pins (i.e. Queen Michelle). The success of that look depends also on the choice of footwear.
You are the one to do it, and you do it with iconoclastic irony.

Those look so bad LOL! It looks almost like something grandma might where, all you need is some ugly slippers to go with it. Go nude all the way, solid knee-high socks (white, black), or knee-high boots.
