Well I very quickly knocked up my little Lanvin inspired cape. Clearly not even a fraction as nice, but if you actually attached it to the neckline of something you'd achieve the same effect as the Lanvin dress because you wouldn't need to use elastic, which I did as I wanted to use it on other things.
I shall take the time to explore this idea further, but for a 10 minute job it's alright.

It actually looks great! I have to try this!!!

That looks great Michelle! Perhaps if you don't attach it to the elastic all the way around you'll get the pleated look of the Lanvin. So instead of sewing the material and gathering it by feeding the elastic through, just pin pleats in the material and sew it and then put the elastic through? Or maybe it needs to be sewn without elastic and fastened at the back? I still love it though. I also have a cape fixation, I converted a long coat into one this winter (I'm in Australia), and now I'm thinking about giving your cape a try!

Brilliant! So inspiring! thanks for posting your projects, it makes me want to do a little something for my own wardrobe. Alas, my projects tend to be for others. Wedding gowns and such.

I saw your post earlier and while out thrift store shopping today i found a lacy white version, probably from a vintage nightgown. I'm going to have trouble getting rid of it. It would be perfect in that capacity.

I love your cape. I like the idea of wearing with different things instead of it being attached to a dress.

Well guys, after looking at my 10 minute cape for a while after I made it and posted it, I decided it wasn't up to scratch and in the bin it went! But I will attempt a more indepth version with better fabric (this was really cheap and thin and I didn't much like the colour). The next one will be better hopefully, now I've seen what I should do to improve it.
