Ribbons Make Things Better
Queen Marie adds ribbons to pretty much everything. Whilst I am much more selective about my ribbon adornment, I can still see the value of adding ribbons to spruce things up and add a new lease of life.
Last night I replaced the horrid white sneaker laces from my Dries-esque shoes, with grey grosgrain ribbons and it's already transformed the shoes from looking like heeled trainers, to pretty Victorian.
Adding the grey ribbon makes the white shoes easier to wear with black tights. But of course you could use any colour of ribbon you wish. I suspect I'm going to replace many boring laces with pretty grosgrain now!

I've thought of doing that in the past, but it's so muddy around here I wonder what the ribbon will look like after a day tramping through campus...but you've given me a fresh lease of courage, I'm going to try this on my sneakers for a test drive (they're Converse- hipsterish maybe, but nothing else really goes with most of my clothes..)

What a great idea! I have some boots that lace up with a shoelace on the vamp...they also look very victorian, but would be even more so if I replaced it with a pretty ribbon!
Thanks for the inspiration...

lady coveted, they are from Ravel - a closing down high street shop in the UK and please feel free to post them on your blog if you think they are worthy as a shoe d'jour.
