Real Men, The Sequel...
As your other Queen so correctly pointed out, we do tend to come at things from a different angle.
The suggestions put forward by Queen Michelle strike me as stage 2 in your friends fashion rebirth. For a starting point, I think they may strike fear into his heart.
The starting point and the solution are simpler. Much much simpler...
Have your creative Prince simplify his wardrobe.
Strip it back to basics. Simplify the colours, simplify the shapes. In creating such a wardrobe, monastic in it's simplicity, it will create calmness. Acting almost like a uniform. As such it will give him a sense of security and increased confidence.
When he doesn't need to worry about his clothes or what he is wearing, he will be able to shine.
This uniform should consist of
Black/White fine jersey Long sleeve t shirts
Black/White fine cotton or linen pants
Black/White old school sneakers - preferably John Varvatos Converse
Everything should be plain plain plain.
Added interest should be provided by accessories. Namely sunglasses and a cool watch.
That's it. It's really that simple. One trip, either real or on line to American Apparel should do it.
He will appear at one with who he is, more interested in what he can create, rather than some sad creature obsessing over the latest trainers.
It is the Hoxton children who will feel overdressed and less assured.
Remember, as I have said many times - " Elegance is refusal"*
I trust you will be returning home from the Americas and as such wish you both a safe and happy journey.
