Using public transport to get to and from work really allows for maximum people watching. You get to see all the little nuances of human behaviour - the way we talk, dress, the morning people and the definitely not morning people, those who shower and those who don't etc. But there is one thing I have seen very often and I really don't understand - girls who do their makeup on the bus.
When I see this I generally think "get up earlier you lazy mare" but another part of me also thinks this behaviour is altogether rather inappropriate. Perhaps I'm just very prim, but to me there are some things that should be left to privacy of your own home and whilst it's not akin to taking a pee on the bus, it's still a ritual I think ladies should keep to themselves.
We all know most chicks wear makeup but I can't helping feeling that we should at least attempt some sort of facade in front of the menfolks because, lets be honest, in this world of the 'ladette' women have no mystery left at all. I bet Audrey Hepburn didn't put her makeup on in public.
The thing that also strikes me about these girls is that they have no concept of hygiene - makeup should be put on with clean hands, but by the time they have gotten themselves on the bus their hands will be filthy - eww! Plus, some girls' application of makeup leaves a lot to be desired - there's a whole lot of grinding of ancient brushes, that have probably never been washed, into equally ancient powders. The whole thing quite frankly gives me the heebyjeebies.
So girls, if you're one of these people, please just get up a little earlier and apply your makeup before you leave the house and lets all pretend us girls are naturally this beautiful because really, you're giving away all our secrets!
